Workers quit union but UFCW continues to grab money From their paychecks as “dues” – Workers file federal charges. Large numbers of Fry’s employees quit the UFCW in disgust and protest over intolerable union tactics, including multiple strike threats. Without legal justification, the union continues to deduct dues from their wages, despite repeated protests. Five workers, on behalf of themselves and others, have filed federal charges against the union. The NLRB is now investigating.

UFCW takes tainted money from convicted briber to pay for political influence. Calls to return funds are met with silence. After making nearly $1 million in campaign contributions in California, Elliott Broidy plead guilty to paying $1 million in bribes to pension officials in New York. The UFCW, who face pension problems themselves, received thousands from Broidy for its political committee at the same time Broidy was lobbying a top union official serving on the California pension board. When asked for comment by the Los Angeles Times, the union stayed silent.
